French police have arrested two suspects linked to the daring $102 million jewel heist at the Louvre Museum’s Apollo Gallery. The men, both in their thirties and known to police, were captured after investigators analyzed over 150 DNA samples from the scene. One suspect was detained at Charles de Gaulle Airport while attempting to flee to Algeria.

The thieves used a truck-mounted ladder to enter the gallery and stole nine historic jewels, including an emerald and diamond necklace gifted by Napoleon. The jewels remain missing, and two additional suspects are still at large.

The seven-minute daylight raid has sparked national outrage and raised questions over the Louvre’s security.

Museum director Laurence des Cars admitted that no cameras were operating in the targeted area, while France’s justice minister called the lapse a “failure.” More than 100 investigators continue to track down the remaining thieves.
