The White House Correspondents’ Association (WHCA) announced that they selected Amber Ruffin as the featured entertainer for the annual correspondents’ dinner April 26.

The decision to bring on the left-leaning comedian who is sure to focus on her cringey agenda was announced in a press release Tuesday. Surely there was a long list of comedians who could have been pegged for this gig, yet somehow, the platform has been handed to Ruffin, who previously whined publicly about being discriminated against for being both black and queer. Ruffin’s social media page is rife with anti-Trump messaging, which is sure to make for a colorful evening.

Ruffin took to Instagram just prior to Trump’s inauguration and roasted the rapper Nelly for agreeing to give a live performance at the Liberty Ball inaugural event. “Jesus wept,” she wrote alongside side-by-side images of Nelly and Trump.

The Emmy and Tony Award nominee also shared a video clip from the comedy news series, “Have I Got News For You US,” in which she roasted Trump nominees, including Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem and Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth. The clip was also shared by Roy Wood Jr. and Michael Ian Black.

These make her a very interesting and incredibly predictable entertainment choice for the correspondents’ dinner.

Politico’s Eugene Daniels, president of the WHCA, stood by the decision, saying, “when I began to think about what entertainer would be a perfect fit for the dinner this year, Amber was immediately at the top of my list,” according to the statement issued to Daily Caller.

Daniels went on to say Ruffin “has the ability to walk the line between blistering commentary and humor all while provoking her audience to think about the important issues of the day,” and said he was “thrilled and honored she said yes.”

He continued promoting Ruffin as the comedian of choice for the highly anticipated event. “Amber’s unique talents are the ideal fit for this current political and cultural climate,” Daniels said.

He added that he believes “her perspective will fit right in with the dinner’s tradition of honoring the freedom of the press while roasting the most powerful people on all sides of the aisle and the journalists who cover them.”
