The White House television press pool has stopped covering President Donald Trump’s events after CNN was barred from serving as the pool’s designated network, according to CNN.
The five-member pool includes CNN, NBC News, ABC News, CBS News and Fox News. Its members rotate coverage of presidential events and share video, photographs, audio and other material with the wider press corps.
Fox News Washington bureau chief Bryan Boughton, who serves as acting chair of the pool consortium, said no replacement pool would be established, while other forms of press-pool coverage would continue.
The decision comes as CNN, MS NOW and Politico prepare to sue the Trump administration over their exclusion from the White House. The outlets argue that the restrictions violate press freedom and First Amendment protections.
