Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the Trump administration plans to sanction a major bank Monday as Washington intensifies its economic campaign against Iran.

Bessent made the announcement Thursday on Real America’s Voice but did not identify the bank or its home country. He said the timing was intended to honor Americans killed on September 11.

Bessent said a large Egyptian bank’s Dubai branches were sanctioned after allegedly providing Iranians access to $1.8 billion. He also said a Turkish bank involved in transactions benefiting Iran would be shut down.

The Treasury Department previously sanctioned Turkey-based Golden Global Yatirim Bankasi and related entities on September 4.

According to the report, the Trump administration has expanded sanctions against Iran since the Middle East conflict began.

Last month, Washington launched what Bessent called “Operation Economic Outcast,” targeting nearly 60 entities, vessels and individuals while broadening penalties on businesses dealing with Iran.
