French authorities on Tuesday raided the Paris offices of X, the social media company owned by Elon Musk, as part of a cybercrime investigation launched in January 2025, according to prosecutors.
The Paris prosecutor’s cybercrime unit is leading the operation, with support from Europol.
Prosecutors said Musk and former X chief executive Linda Yaccarino have been summoned for hearings in April. Company employees will be questioned as witnesses.

The investigation initially focused on alleged misuse of platform algorithms but has since expanded to include concerns over sexualized deepfake images generated by X’s artificial intelligence chatbot, Grok.
Separately, the European Commission last week opened its own probe into Grok after reports that it generated explicit images, including of women and minors. X has since disabled the chatbot’s ability to create revealing images of people.
