Amnesty International has urged the Trump administration to halt immigration enforcement operations around the 2026 FIFA World Cup, warning such actions could undermine civil liberties.
In a report titled “Humanity Must Win,” the group called on U.S. authorities to prevent ICE agents from conducting raids or arrests near stadiums and fan zones, according to Newsweek.

The concern comes as ICE officials have not ruled out enforcement during the tournament. Acting director Todd Lyons said agents would play a role in overall security, the report said.
Amnesty argued that aggressive immigration policies, including detentions and deportations, could create a hostile environment for fans and participants. It also raised concerns about travel restrictions affecting supporters from certain countries.
The report highlighted coordination between ICE and local law enforcement in several host cities. Lawmakers have introduced proposals to limit ICE activity during the event, but no final decision has been made.
