Meta Platforms is expected to unveil a new camera-free smart glasses model, reportedly called “Luna,” at its annual Meta Connect conference as the company faces growing privacy concerns over wearable devices.
The glasses are expected to come in Clubmaster and Burbank styles and use six microphones to support interaction with Meta’s Muse AI assistant.
Analysts say removing the camera could distinguish Luna from competing products but may also limit its functionality.
Privacy questions could remain because the glasses would still collect audio, and Meta faces a proposed California class-action lawsuit alleging it misled users about privacy protections.
Meta is also expected to showcase Project Phoenix, a thinner augmented-reality device, as competition in AI-powered and augmented-reality wearables intensifies.
