The U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has asked Army Chief of Staff General Randy George to step down, marking another major leadership change under President Donald Trump, reported by multiple outlets. The Pentagon confirmed George’s immediate retirement but did not provide a reason.

According to the report, sources suggest Hegseth is seeking leadership aligned with the administration’s military vision as the Iran conflict intensifies. General Christopher LaNeve has been named acting Army chief, signaling a rapid reshuffle within senior ranks.

The report said several other top military officials have also been removed in recent months, reflecting a broader overhaul of Pentagon leadership. These changes come as U.S. forces, including paratroopers and Marines, are being deployed to the Middle East.

Trump recently indicated that military operations against Iran will intensify in the coming weeks, though no clear end strategy has been outlined.

The leadership shakeup highlights the administration’s push to assert control over military direction during an ongoing conflict.
