A new Google Workspace–Harris Poll survey shows that young knowledge workers are no longer impressed by AI’s novelty and now expect the technology to deliver more personalized, authentic results.
The poll of more than 1,000 U.S. workers ages 22 to 39 found that 92% want AI tools that match their writing style or their organization’s tone.
Nearly 90% said they would use AI more at work if it integrated personal data from emails, notes, and documents to produce tailored outputs.
AI at work is spreading unevenly, with interns and early career staff using it far more than many senior workers.

Across companies, willingness to experiment matters more than job title, so people who play with AI every day often get more value than long time… pic.twitter.com/oblxt6UAqW
AI adoption among younger workers remains high. Last year, 93% of Gen Z and 79% of millennials used two or more AI tools weekly.
This year, 77% describe themselves as “power users” who engineer parts of their workflow with AI, and 93% believe AI has boosted their professional confidence.
But personalization remains a technical hurdle as enterprise systems struggle with style-matching and secure access to work data — creating an opening for companies that can deliver it.
