Ukraine has allocated $36 million to strengthen energy infrastructure in frontline regions as Russian strikes intensify ahead of winter, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on October 7.
I had a meeting with Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko. First and foremost, a report was presented on recovery efforts in the regions following Russian strikes on the energy sector.

The funding will help protect critical power facilities and build a reserve of equipment for rapid restoration of electricity in war-hit areas, Zelensky said after meeting Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.
This Sunday night, Russia launched yet another barrage of missiles and drones against the people of Ukraine, targeting the Lviv, Zaporizhzhia, Chernihiv, Vinnytsia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kherson, Kharkiv, and Odesa regions.

The government also agreed to maintain fixed household gas prices and imposed a moratorium on power cutoffs in frontline communities to shield civilians from worsening conditions.
Earlier, Moscow launched its largest assault on Ukraine’s energy sector since 2022, targeting regions including Kharkiv, Poltava, Chernihiv, and Donetsk, and striking state-owned Naftogaz facilities, according to Ukrainian officials.

The energy ministry is now racing to repair damage and fortify key sites before freezing temperatures hit, as Russia continues its campaign to cripple Ukraine’s grid and undermine civilian resilience.
