Russian attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure left more than 600,000 people without electricity early Wednesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said, according to CNN.
Russia launched more than 120 drones and 39 ballistic missiles targeting Kyiv and Kharkiv, damaging energy, oil and gas facilities. Zelensky said the strikes violated the energy ceasefire announced by US President Donald Trump over the weekend.
President Trump said Tuesday that Washington was continuing to share intelligence with Ukraine, despite recent warnings about potentially restricting support. However, Russia’s ballistic missiles can reach Kyiv within minutes, limiting response time.
The latest attacks come amid continued strikes by both countries on energy infrastructure, despite Trump’s proposed ceasefire and ongoing diplomatic efforts to end the war.
