Zelenskyy Calls Russian Land Demand The “Main Problem” In Trump's Plan

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Monday that the biggest obstacle in the Trump administration’s 28-point peace proposal is a requirement for Ukraine and the international community to legally recognize Russian control over occupied territory.

Zelenskyy called the demand a direct attack on territorial integrity and said it remains the “main problem” in negotiations. U.S., Ukrainian, and European officials met in Geneva over the weekend to revise the draft plan.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio described the talks as the “most productive” since President Donald Trump returned to office but acknowledged major issues remain.

Trump has pushed for rapid progress and floated Thanksgiving as a deadline, though he now says the timeline is flexible.

European leaders, including Finland’s president, warned that significant disagreements remain. Kyiv says it will not accept terms that reward Russian aggression, even as pressure grows to finalize a framework.
