The advocacy group Democracy Forward filed a federal lawsuit Friday against the Department of Justice and FBI, demanding records about their handling of the Jeffrey Epstein investigation.

The suit, filed in Washington, D.C., seeks information under the Freedom of Information Act regarding internal communications about Epstein, particularly any involving former President Donald Trump.

The group's CEO, Skye Perryman, criticized the government's failure to release the records, calling it an extraordinary situation requiring urgent court intervention.

The DOJ recently announced it would not release further documents from the Epstein case, sparking renewed public scrutiny.

CNN reported that top Trump officials, including Attorney General Pam Bondi and FBI Director Kash Patel, met Wednesday at the White House to discuss the administration's response.

Senator JD Vance reportedly hosted the meeting. The administration is also considering releasing audio from the DOJ's interview with Ghislaine Maxwell, Epstein's convicted accomplice.
