The U.S. Air Force has placed Major Jason Watson in pretrial confinement following allegations of continued misconduct, days after he publicly criticised President Donald Trump.
Watson's attorney believes a CNN interview in which the officer accused Trump of violating the Constitution and called for his removal may have contributed to the detention.
The Air Force has not publicly detailed the specific allegations behind Watson's latest detention. His attorney, Chris Mutimer, said he had not yet spoken with Watson but suspected the CNN appearance was a possible trigger.
Watson remains presumed innocent and is entitled to legal protections during the military proceedings.
