Boston, Denver and Philadelphia have emerged as the three finalists to host the 2028 Democratic National Convention, according to CBS News. Atlanta and Chicago, which were previously considered contenders, were eliminated from the race.
DNC Chair Ken Martin said the three remaining cities submitted strong proposals and described the convention as an important step toward the party’s 2028 presidential campaign. The Democratic National Convention Committee will now conduct a selection process expected to take several months.
The three finalists have extensive convention history. Philadelphia hosted the DNC in 2016, when Hillary Clinton became the party’s presidential nominee. Boston hosted in 2004, while Denver hosted in 2008, when Barack Obama accepted the Democratic nomination.
The 2024 Democratic convention was held in Chicago.
