A purported draft of a Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran has surfaced in media reports, offering what appears to be the most detailed glimpse yet into the framework of a potential agreement aimed at ending hostilities and laying the groundwork for a broader diplomatic settlement.

According to the reported text, the agreement would establish an immediate and permanent ceasefire between the parties and their allies, including provisions covering Lebanon and other regional theaters.

Both sides would commit to respecting each other's sovereignty, refraining from hostile actions, and negotiating a comprehensive final agreement within 60 days, with the option to extend talks by mutual consent.

The alleged framework contains significant economic and security provisions. The United States would reportedly lift its naval blockade, facilitate the restoration of commercial shipping routes, issue waivers for Iranian oil exports, and work toward ending sanctions under an agreed timetable.

The document also outlines a proposed economic rehabilitation package for Iran valued at no less than $300 billion, though details regarding funding sources and implementation remain unclear.

💡
On the nuclear issue, the reported text states that Iran would reaffirm its commitment not to develop nuclear weapons while maintaining the status quo on its nuclear program during negotiations.

Questions surrounding enriched uranium stockpiles and other nuclear matters would be addressed in a final agreement.

The draft also envisions the gradual release of frozen Iranian assets and the establishment of a mechanism to oversee implementation and compliance.

If authentic, the memorandum would represent one of the most ambitious diplomatic initiatives between Washington and Tehran in decades.

However, neither government has publicly confirmed the leaked text, and key provisions are likely to face scrutiny from regional allies, domestic political opponents, and international stakeholders.

Until an official document is released and formally signed, the reported agreement remains unverified and subject to change.
