Amazon's market capitalization briefly reached $3 trillion on Monday, making it one of a select group of companies to achieve the milestone as investor enthusiasm for artificial intelligence continued to drive technology stocks higher.
According to the company, Amazon Web Services generated $42.23 billion in revenue, up 37% from a year earlier, while delivering an operating margin of 39.4%.
Chief Executive Officer Andy Jassy said both the company's artificial intelligence and custom chip businesses have surpassed annualized revenue run rates of $25 billion.
Analysts said Amazon's latest earnings have strengthened expectations for future growth, while broader investment in AI infrastructure and custom silicon is also supporting optimistic outlooks for other major technology companies, including Apple and Alphabet.
