Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) announced a strategic partnership with Anthropic and said it plans to invest up to $5 billion in the artificial intelligence company in the future, according to the company's announcement.
Under the agreement, Anthropic will deploy two gigawatts of AMD's Instinct MI450 graphics processing units through AMD's Helios rack-scale systems, with the first gigawatt expected to go online during the first half of next year.
Anthropic has been expanding its computing capacity through multiple large-scale agreements. According to the report, the company recently signed infrastructure deals with SpaceX, Amazon, Google and Broadcom, and is also exploring additional computing partnerships.
The report added that Anthropic has experienced rapid business growth driven by demand for its Claude AI models and coding tools. The company is also preparing for a potential initial public offering after confidentially filing with U.S. regulators.
