Anthropic is negotiating a second multibillion-dollar agreement with British data center company Nscale to secure additional computing capacity in West Virginia, according to a person familiar with the discussions who spoke to CNBC.
The proposed deal would cover another 460-megawatt data center at the site used for their first agreement and could be worth approximately $45 billion. Anthropic declined to comment, while Nscale was approached for a response. Bloomberg first reported the negotiations.
Separately, The Telegraph reported that Microsoft withdrew from a planned London-area data center project with Nscale because of delays connecting to the power grid. Nscale disputed concerns about its broader business relationships.
Anthropic has pursued major infrastructure partnerships to meet rising demand for its Claude AI products.
