Apple unveiled its most unusual accessory in years: a knitted iPhone Pocket priced at $149.95 for the short version and $229.95 for the long version. The strap, created with fashion house Issey Miyake, is meant to serve as an “additional pocket” for any iPhone, Apple said in a statement reported by CNN.

The product arrives Friday in multiple colors and is pitched as a fusion of simplicity and craftsmanship.
The price tag sparked widespread mockery online. Users on X compared the Pocket to a “cut-up sock” and even to Borat’s neon-green mankini. Others questioned why a cloth strap costs more than some entry-level smartwatches.

Still, tech analysts say Apple is leaning into a growing trend of treating the iPhone as a wearable.
MG Siegler called it an “insanely expensive sock” but noted that Apple has been expanding into everyday straps, following its earlier iPhone Crossbody Strap released at $59.
