Zoo Atlanta is welcoming two giant pandas, Ping Ping and Fu Shuang, to the public on Friday, ending a two-year absence of the species at the facility.

Their new home, the renovated Blank Panda Grove, received a $6 million upgrade funded by the Woodruff Foundation. The enclosure had remained empty since four previous pandas returned to China, ending a 25-year partnership.

Zoo Atlanta is now among only three facilities in the United States housing giant pandas. The zoo's Panda Care Team says Ping Ping is larger and has a distinctive Y-shaped marking across his nose, while Fu Shuang has a rounder face.

Zoo President Raymond B. King is leading the opening ceremony celebrating the pandas' return.
