President Donald Trump said he won’t hesitate to personally call CEOs who list tariffs on their products, claiming such moves are misleading and harmful to the country. In an interview with NBC’s Meet the Press, Trump confirmed he contacted Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos last week after reports the company would highlight 145% China tariffs on certain purchases. According to Trump, Bezos and Amazon backed down.

“I’ll always call people if I disagree with them,” Trump said, arguing former President Biden wouldn’t act similarly because “he didn’t know what was happening.” Trump also insisted that tariffs shouldn’t be passed on to consumers. “The country eats the tariff. The company eats the tariff,” he said.
