Last week, a 13-year-old girl was raped at Kissena Park in Queens, which shocked New York City. On Tuesday, authorities arrested Christian Geovanny Inga-Landi, 25, on charges of rape, robbery, kidnapping, endangering the welfare of a child, and possessing a weapon.
Inga-Landi, an Ecuadorian national, entered the United States through Eagle Pass, Texas, in July 2021. Although he had no prior arrest history in New York City, he had been detained in Texas for entering the country illegally.
Biden’s point man for immigration, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, mirrors Biden's refusal to acknowledge failures or take responsibility. He lives in an alternate universe, detached from the consequences of his actions.
Rachel Morin, a Maryland mother of five, was found dead near a hiking trail ten months ago. She was allegedly raped and murdered by Victor Antonio Martinez-Hernandez, an El Salvadoran who illegally crossed into the United States in February 2023.
CNN’s Jim Acosta lobbed a softball at Secretary Mayorkas in a recent interview about Morin:
I do want to ask you about the murder of this Maryland mother that has been in the news. It’s gotten a lot of attention. She was killed last year. An undocumented immigrant was just arrested in her death last week. He’s suspected of multiple crimes since he crossed the border illegally in early 2023.
Obviously, you know, we know that studies show that undocumented immigrants don’t commit more crimes statistically than native-born U.S. citizens. But what do you say to critics who blame the administration for allowing something like this to happen? Obviously, this is something that you hear in right-wing media all the time.
Mayorkas would not take any responsibility and spewed some mealy-mouthed bromide:
Jim, first and foremost, of course, our hearts break for the children, the family, the loved ones, the friends of the individual who was murdered, the woman, the mother. Jim, a criminal is responsible for the criminal act. The criminal who committed this heinous act should be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law and forcefully so. That is my response.
Right-wing media?
In a recent TIPP Poll completed in late May, 34% of Americans consider immigration the country's second most important issue, following the economy, which garnered 37%. The importance of immigration has steadily increased from 29% in December to 34% in June.
Apparently, immigration is not a concern of the left-wing media. Jim Acosta inadvertently admitted that the American media, functioning as an extension of the Democratic Party, has been trying to downplay President Biden’s failure on immigration.
But Americans know the truth. The table below underscores the importance of immigration in the coming election.
Hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants are flooding the southern border, and Washington has few plans to halt the massive onslaught. The surge comes at a cost. The cartels are smuggling illegal guns and deadly fentanyl, and they engage in human trafficking and the exploitation of women and children.
Most Americans attribute the crisis to President Biden’s weak immigration policies.
As of February, the Department of Homeland Security reported approximately 7.2 million "encounters" with illegal crossers. In contrast, there were 2.4 million such encounters during the entire four years of Donald Trump's presidency.
The Biden administration has spent $451 billion a year on immigrants, according to a congressional report.
Americans overwhelmingly favor building a border wall and strongly enforcing existing immigration laws.
Frustrated with the federal government's response, a few states, including Florida, Iowa, Louisiana, Tennessee, Georgia, and Oklahoma, are proposing or have already passed laws to ban illegal immigrants.
In the latest TIPP Poll, most Americans (56%) are dissatisfied with President Biden’s handling of immigration and border security. Only one in five (21%) are satisfied. While 40% of Democrats are satisfied, 85% of Republicans are dissatisfied. Meanwhile, nearly two-thirds (60%) of independents are dissatisfied.
Here are the eight demographic groups, excluding Republicans and conservatives, reporting the highest percentages from the table presented above:
- Age 65+ (49%)
- Boomers (48%)
- Protestants (48%)
- Silent generation (46%)
- White men (43%)
- $75K+ households (43%)
- Catholics (42%)
- $50-$75K households (40%)
No one in the coterie running Biden's administration takes any responsibility. Actions have consequences. Make no mistake: Team Biden can’t camouflage this issue. American cities are bursting at the seams, and voters will deliver their judgment in another 138 days.
