Bondi: FBI Monitoring For Iran Sleeper Cells In U.S.

Attorney General Pam Bondi

Attorney General Pam Bondi said Wednesday that the Department of Justice is on “high alert” following U.S. airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities over the weekend.

Speaking before the House Appropriations Committee, Bondi warned of potential security threats linked to Iranian nationals who may have crossed the southern U.S. border. “Over 1,000 have entered our country, and I can tell you we are on high alert,” she said, citing ongoing FBI monitoring for possible sleeper cells.

Rep. Tony Gonzales, R-Texas, raised the issue of border crossings, referencing Fox News reports that over 1,500 Iranians entered the U.S. illegally during the Biden administration, with nearly half released into the country.

Bondi said the DOJ remains committed to “doing more with less” despite budget pressures, and urged Congress to pass the Trump administration’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which has cleared the House and awaits Senate approval.
