Ratko Mladić, the former Bosnian-Serb general convicted over atrocities during the Balkan wars, has died at 84, CNN reported Thursday.
Serbian broadcaster RTS reported his death, which was confirmed to Reuters by his lawyer.

Mladić was convicted in 2017 by the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia for his role in the Srebrenica massacre, the siege of Sarajevo and an ethnic cleansing campaign against Bosnia’s non-Serb population.
The UN-backed tribunal found him guilty of genocide, crimes against humanity, murder, persecution and other offenses. He became widely known as the “Butcher of Bosnia.”
