Can Kamala Live Up To Her Name?

While politics and physics may seem unrelated, they share fascinating parallels. Take the concept of potential energy in physics, represented by mgh (mass, gravity, and height). This formula can be used to describe the intensity and impact of political situations, with time serving as the equivalent of height. Consider Biden's case: the Democratic Party concealed his infirmities during the primaries, building suspense over a long time. Just as an object gains more potential energy and hits the ground harder from a greater height, the longer the Democrats tried to present a different image of Biden, the greater the impact when the truth emerged - illustrating the parallels between physics and politics.

This scenario describes the birth pains from which Kamala Harris emerged.

Americans have yet to fully discover Kamala. In Sanskrit, "Kamala" means lotus. In Hinduism, the lotus flower grows in muddy waters, yet it rises to the surface and blooms in pristine beauty, symbolizing the idea of rising above worldly attachments and impurities. Kamala’s mother was a Tamil Brahmin from Chennai, India, and her father was of Jamaican origin.

Can Kamala Harris, who rose out of murky political waters, live up to her name in the coming days? We remain skeptical.

First, Biden is closely tied to Kamala Harris, and she simply can’t distance herself from the Biden-Harris record.

Why?

Attempting to recover after his catastrophic debate, Biden defiantly said in an interview with George Stephanopoulos:

Look. I mean, if the Lord Almighty came down and said, ‘Joe, get outta the race,’ I’d get outta the race. The Lord Almighty’s not comin’ down.

A few days later, Biden’s defiance melted as he was pushed out by prominent party leaders, including Barack Obama, whom, according to The New York Times, Biden saw “as a puppet master behind the scenes.”

Last Sunday, at 1:46 p.m., President Biden announced that he was quitting the race. Twenty-seven minutes later, he anointed Kamala Harris. Biden, who has distinguished himself for his lawfare against Trump, swiftly announced—a gambit aimed at the Democratic leadership that practically foreclosed any chance of a contested convention.

Obama did not immediately endorse Harris; news reports suggest he preferred Senator Mark Kelly from Arizona.

Many Democrats see Harris as the weakest alternative to Biden. By quickly jumping on the Kamala bandwagon, the Party denied itself the possibility of a stronger candidate and, ipso facto, is stuck with Biden’s dismal record. In the Faustian bargain, Kamala becomes the Party nominee, inheriting Biden's dismal track record. She is Biden’s Vice President, and his record is her record. As the incumbent, the issues of 20% Bidenflation and the border catastrophe are as much her’s as Biden’s.

Bidenflation at 20% is a key voter concern that can't be hidden and is unlikely to cool

In the latest TIPP Poll, completed in late June, Biden received good grades from less than 33% of respondents on all issues. Kamala must defend and explain the poor performance, which could negatively impact her chances of winning the next election or gaining public support.

Second, Kamala has not distinguished herself with any separate accomplishments over the past three years. For example, Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren, a big Kamala supporter, when asked by Kaitlan Collins of CNN, said she was the first vice president in history to visit an abortion clinic. Here’s the exchange.

Collins: “What do you think has been her biggest accomplishment since she’s been vice president?”

Warren: “Oh, I have to say, since the Dobbs opinion, the way that she has rallied women, and friends of women, also called men, around this country, on the issue of abortion, and just taken it home. First vice president in history to visit an abortion clinic. Go get them. She’s someone who talks openly about things that were kind of challenging for some people to talk about, but also to talk about it with —“

Collins: “Abortion was — President Biden didn’t even mention the word, abortion, in his State of the Union.”

Warren: “That’s right. But Vice President Harris has, and she’s talked about it, both with compassion, but also with a sense of what is right. How can we be a country that half of America lost rights because of an extremist Supreme Court put in place by Donald Trump?”

Third, Kamala’s track record as a Senator is even more liberal than that of socialist Senator Bernie Sanders from Vermont. For example, her stance on fracking, electric cars, the elimination of private health insurance, support for defunding the police, and abolishing ICE is concerning. The ultra-liberal Kamala will likely face headwinds in battleground states like Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania. We’ll examine her positions on key issues more closely in the coming days.

Fourth, Kamala is not the best team player, and we are skeptical if she has the temperament. Washington Post's interviews with past staffers revealed that Harris would not read the briefing materials produced by her staffers and chastise them when she sounded unprepared. Her ex-staffers have complained of the toxic working environment under her leadership. The Post quoted a former staffer:

With Kamala, you have to put up with a constant amount of soul-destroying criticism and also her own lack of confidence. So you're constantly sort of propping up a bully, and it's not really clear why.

Fifth, Kamala’s Achilles heel is foreign policy. A case in point is when she was slammed for breaking into inappropriate laughter during a joint press conference with Polish President Andrzej Duda in Warsaw in March 2022 after she was asked whether the U.S. would take in Ukrainian refugees. This led Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky’s former press secretary to say it would be a “tragedy” if she ever became president. You can see the video here and decide for yourself.

A second example is that Kamala could not find the time to attend Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's recent address to the U.S. Congress. Instead, she decided to attend the annual convention of a sorority in Indiana. The Jerusalem Post called it: Kamala Harris’s absence from Netanyahu’s Congressional address: A bad start — editorial. The Post went on to call it outrageous and inexcusable.

Since what goes up must come down, when the sugar high of the honeymoon returns to earthly levels, Americans will see the real Kamala, whom we think will find it difficult to live up to her name.
