China has welcomed the decision by Pakistan and Afghanistan to elevate their diplomatic relations to the ambassadorial level, calling it a positive step toward regional peace and cooperation.
In a statement posted on social media platform X, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian said Beijing believes the move will help Islamabad and Kabul "enhance trust and cooperation" while promoting peace and stability across South Asia.
"This is also an important and positive step by both sides to implement the outcomes of the informal foreign ministers’ meeting between China, Afghanistan, and Pakistan in May," Lin added.
