China has rejected U.S. allegations that Chinese companies use forced labour in the Xinjiang region, after Washington expanded its trade restrictions by adding 43 more firms to its Uyghur Forced Labor Prevention Act Entity List.
According to China's Ministry of Commerce, the U.S. action has no factual basis and unfairly targets Chinese businesses through unilateral sanctions.
The ministry said the measures disrupt global supply chains, harm the legitimate interests of Chinese companies and amount to economic coercion.
The report said Beijing maintains that Xinjiang is stable and prosperous and denied allegations of forced labour in the region.
The United States said the additional companies were added to the entity list over alleged human rights abuses involving Uyghurs and other minority groups, restricting the import of goods linked to those entities.
