French shipping and logistics company CMA CGM Group has agreed to acquire FedEx Supply Chain for approximately $1.4 billion, marking a major expansion of its contract logistics operations in North America.

The transaction is part of FedEx's broader strategy to streamline its business and concentrate on higher-margin sectors, including healthcare, aerospace and data center logistics.

💡
The acquisition will significantly strengthen CMA CGM's logistics subsidiary, Ceva Logistics, nearly tripling its North American presence.

The combined operation will employ around 20,000 people across more than 240 locations, enhancing the company's ability to serve customers throughout the region.

Alongside the sale, FedEx and CMA CGM have signed multiyear commercial agreements covering air and ocean freight services.

The partnerships are expected to improve aircraft utilization and expand integrated logistics offerings, with implementation scheduled to continue through 2028.

💡
The agreement follows FedEx's recent spin-off of FedEx Freight and reflects the company's continued effort to simplify its portfolio and focus on core delivery operations. Subject to customary regulatory approvals, the acquisition is expected to close later this year.

CMA CGM Chairman Rodolphe Saadé said the investment underscores the company's long-term commitment to expanding its presence in the United States.
