Jeffrey Epstein’s longtime accountant, Richard Kahn, appeared before the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday for a closed door deposition as lawmakers continue investigating the late financier’s financial network, according to CNN.
The Republican led committee is examining how Epstein accumulated and moved large sums of money through dozens of trusts and business entities. Committee staff have already reviewed about 44,000 financial documents and bank records as part of the investigation.

House Oversight Chair James Comer said lawmakers want answers about Epstein’s wealth, including payments made to women and tuition payments for some victims. Investigators are also examining whether settlements were arranged or if funds were used for other undisclosed purposes.
The committee previously subpoenaed records from JPMorgan Chase and Deutsche Bank. According to court records, JPMorgan reported more than $1 billion in transactions tied to Epstein between 2003 and 2019 that the bank considered suspicious. Lawmakers say the investigation could produce new leads.
