In Tuesday's special elections, Democrat Dan Goughnour secured a decisive victory in western Pennsylvania, preserving his party’s slim majority in the state House. Goughnour defeated Republican Chuck Davis in the Mon Valley district, which had been vacant since the January death of Democratic Rep. Matthew Gergely

Meanwhile, in Lancaster County, Democrat James Andrew Malone, mayor of East Petersburg, held a narrow lead over Republican Josh Parsons for a state legislative seat. Malone’s potential win would be a major upset, but would not shift the Republican-dominated state Senate. With 99% of votes counted, Malone led Parsons by 482 votes, a margin of 0.89%, though the final result remains uncertain as provisional ballots are yet to be counted.

County Commissioner Josh Parsons expressed disappointment on social media, stating, "Clearly, we are disappointed with the results. We are still examining them, but it seems we will fall slightly short."
