Epstein Probe Expands: Oversight Committee Targets Top Officials

The House Oversight Committee has issued sweeping subpoenas to the Justice Department and former top officials from both parties, demanding files and depositions related to the late Jeffrey Epstein.

Among those subpoenaed are former Attorneys General Merrick Garland, William Barr, and Eric Holder; former FBI Director James Comey; special counsel Robert Mueller; and Bill and Hillary Clinton.

Chairman James Comer acted after three Republicans joined Democrats to advance the release of Epstein records. The subpoenas request all Epstein-related DOJ files, including redacted victim names and communications from former Biden-era officials.

The move defies House Speaker Mike Johnson, who has urged Republicans to allow President Trump’s administration time to act. Meanwhile, Ghislaine Maxwell has also been subpoenaed, though her deposition is delayed pending a Supreme Court appeal.

The issue has caused mounting friction in Congress, with Johnson opting to send lawmakers home early for recess. Republicans argue the public deserves full transparency on the case.
