A military F-16 fighter jet crashed Tuesday near Spangdahlem Air Base in western Germany, with the pilot ejecting from the aircraft during the incident.

Initial reports indicated the aircraft was attempting to land when the crash occurred, although the circumstances remained under investigation.

The jet came down on a golf course near the B50 road between Binsfeld and Spangdahlem, close to the U.S. Air Force installation in the Eifel region. Local authorities reported that one person was injured in the incident.

Firefighters and emergency response teams from the Eifel District of Bitburg-Prüm were dispatched to the crash site. The incident prompted an emergency response as authorities assessed the scene and secured the area.
