FBI Arrests New York Woman Over Alleged Plot To Attack State Capitol

According to the complaint, Bowie allegedly used the name “Aisha Saif” and communicated with a confidential source posing as an ISIS facilitator between July 16 and August 17.

Federal authorities have arrested Jessica Bowie, 35, of Albany, accusing her of attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organisation in connection with an alleged plot targeting the New York State Capitol.

According to the complaint, Bowie allegedly used the name “Aisha Saif” and communicated with a confidential source posing as an ISIS facilitator between July 16 and August 17.

Investigators allege she sought assistance in creating explosives and discussed harming perceived enemies.

The alleged target was less than two miles from her residence. Prosecutors also said Bowie operated multiple social media accounts expressing support for terrorism and created new profiles after previous accounts were repeatedly suspended.

Federal officials are scheduled to provide additional details at a press conference. Bowie faces federal charges and remains entitled to the presumption of innocence unless proven guilty in court.
