Flood-hit communities in southwest Colorado are bracing for renewed flooding as another round of rain is forecast for Sunday, October 25. Authorities warn that saturated ground from consecutive days of heavy rainfall leaves the region vulnerable to flash floods.

The Florida and Pine rivers are expected to rise as local reservoirs release water. On Saturday, parts of Manassa and Guadalupe were evacuated, while the San Juan River Bridge and the Animas River remained closed because of hazardous conditions.

Meanwhile, coastal flooding is affecting areas from Florida to the Carolinas, with persistent onshore winds expected to continue through Tuesday. Rough surf and waves reaching up to 12 feet are possible as the region experiences some of the year's highest high tides.
