Florida is set to carry out its 13th execution of 2026, with William Frances Silvia, 61, scheduled to be put to death at Florida State Prison near Starke for the 2006 murder of his estranged wife, Patricia Silvia.
Prosecutors said Silvia shot his wife and wounded her mother, Betty Woodard, during the incident.
Silvia was initially sentenced to death, but the sentence was later overturned before he was resentenced in 2018.
His attorneys have continued to pursue legal challenges, with a final appeal pending before the U.S. Supreme Court.
Florida has two additional executions scheduled in September, involving Harold Gene Lucas on September 1 and Daniel Owen Conahan Jr. on September 10.
The state continues to lead the nation in executions as legal challenges remain ongoing.
