An active shooter has been confirmed at Fort Stewart in Georgia, prompting an immediate lockdown of the military base and several nearby schools.
Maj. Charles Egan confirmed the active shooter situation, with casualties still being assessed. The incident occurred in the 2nd Brigade Combat Team area, located off Highway 144 near Sunbury Road. This location, along with Wright and Evans Army Airfields, is currently under lockdown.

Nearby Liberty County schools, including Button Gwinnett Elementary, Joseph Martin Elementary, and Snelson Golden Middle School, were also placed on lockdown.
Fort Stewart's DoDEA schools are secured, although there is no direct threat to the school campuses, according to the Fort Stewart-Hunter Army Airfield Command.
The Army advised personnel to stay indoors, lock all windows and doors, and maintain communication with leadership. Further details, including the identity of the shooter and number of casualties, remain unknown at this time.
