The House GOP has released a new report accusing Democrats of trying to “undermine” U.S. healthcare amid the ongoing government shutdown, now in its 14th day.
The report argues that Democrats’ proposed continuing resolution (CR) would roll back key reforms in the GOP’s One Big Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) — recently rebranded as the Working Families Tax Cuts (WFTC) — which Republicans say balances “compassion with accountability” in Medicaid.
Democrats claim to want to save health care, yet their plan rolls back $50 billion in rural health care funding.

The GOP report warns that Democrats’ plan would reverse progress on rural hospital funding and open the door for Medicaid misuse, including benefits for non-citizens.
Democrats, in turn, accuse Republicans of misrepresenting their healthcare stance while pushing to extend enhanced Obamacare subsidies set to expire this year.
As the government shutdown enters day 14 with no end in sight, House Speaker Mike Johnson warns it could be “one of the longest shutdowns in American history.”
