Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski of Alaska announced she will vote against Todd Blanche's nomination for attorney general, further complicating his path to Senate confirmation, reported by CNN.

Murkowski said she lacks confidence that Blanche would act independently and cited concerns over the proposed $1.8 billion anti-weaponization fund.

According to the report, she argued the fund, which was rescinded while Blanche's nomination was pending, could be revived if he is confirmed.

The report said Blanche can no longer afford additional Republican defections with Sen. Mitch McConnell absent from the Senate.

Attention has now shifted to Sen. Bill Cassidy, whose vote could prove decisive in determining whether President Donald Trump's nominee is confirmed.
