Volkswagen's controlling shareholders have urged the automaker to accelerate its restructuring efforts as the company faces mounting pressure from Chinese competitors, rising tariff costs and weakening profits, reported by CNBC.

Hans Dieter Pötsch, chairman of Porsche SE, said Volkswagen is at a "historic crossroads" and warned that delaying difficult decisions would further damage the company's competitiveness. Porsche SE, controlled by the Porsche and Piëch families, is Volkswagen's largest shareholder with 53.3% of the voting rights.
