Gulf States Condemn Iran Over Tanker Attack In Hormuz

Strait of Hormuz

Egypt and Gulf nations have strongly condemned Iran after a UAE-linked oil tanker was targeted by drones in the Strait of Hormuz, according to official statements.

Egypt said the attack violated international law and threatened freedom of navigation, the report said. The Gulf Cooperation Council also issued a sharp rebuke. Secretary General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi described the strike as “treacherous” and warned it poses a serious risk to global shipping routes.

The vessel, linked to Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, was reportedly hit by two drones. The UAE confirmed the incident but said no injuries were reported. It remains unclear whether the tanker sustained damage.

The report said the attack comes amid rising tensions in the region and increased efforts by the United States to secure maritime traffic through the strait under its “Project Freedom” initiative.
