The U.S. military has denied Iranian claims that an American warship was struck by missiles near the Strait of Hormuz, according to statements reported by CBS News.
Captain Tim Hawkins, a spokesperson for U.S. Central Command, said reports from Iran’s Fars news agency were false. The outlet had claimed that a U.S. Navy frigate was hit during rising tensions in the region. Hawkins provided no further details but firmly rejected the allegation.

The denial comes as President Donald Trump moves forward with “Project Freedom,” a military-backed effort to guide stranded commercial ships through the Gulf.
Iran has warned it may target vessels crossing the strait without approval. CENTCOM reiterated that no U.S. ships were hit and said American forces remain active in securing maritime routes.
