In a joint statement, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain and Jordan condemned what they called Iran’s “criminal” strikes on oil and gas facilities. The statement said attacks launched from Iraqi territory by Iran-backed groups violate international law.

The countries reaffirmed their right to self-defense under the United Nations Charter, warning they may take all necessary steps to protect sovereignty and stability.
