“I am putting up my hand once again,” she said, referencing her role in the auto bailout. The Democratic field is growing, with state Sen. Mallory McMorrow and Dr. Abdul El-Sayed already in the race, and others considering bids. Stevens' legislative experience — such as shaping laws to boost U.S. semiconductor production — may give her an edge in a race that could reshape Michigan’s political landscape.
