The Trump administration has stripped Harvard University of its ability to enroll international students, citing claims of antisemitism and foreign influence on campus. The Department of Homeland Security said Thursday the Ivy League school allowed “anti-American, pro-terrorist agitators” to assault Jewish students and accused it, without evidence, of coordinating with the Chinese Communist Party.

As a result, Harvard has lost its certification under the Student and Exchange Visitor Program, meaning it can no longer sponsor visas for international students. Nearly 6,800 students from over 100 countries —more than a quarter of Harvard’s student body — will have to transfer or leave the U.S.
“This administration is holding Harvard accountable,” Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said, accusing the university of fostering violence and foreign ties.
Harvard has not yet responded. The move escalates ongoing tensions between the Trump administration and elite universities amid rising campus unrest and scrutiny over foreign influence.
