National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett dismissed recession fears Monday, claiming there’s “100% not” a chance the U.S. will face one in 2025. Speaking to Fox Business, Hassett touted “amazing” trade deal offers from over 10 countries following President Trump’s sweeping tariffs, and insisted there was no insider trading linked to Trump’s abrupt tariff pause last week.
NEC Director Kevin Hassett: We've got more than 10 deals where there's very, very good, amazing offers made to the U.S. that @USTradeRep, @howardlutnick and @POTUS are going over... We have so much progress made so quickly. pic.twitter.com/aWgluwY8zK

Trump officials are now reviewing whether to accept trade deals individually or as a package. Meanwhile, Hassett said executives are reshoring operations and consumers are buying foreign goods in anticipation of future tariffs. Democrats are demanding answers over potential market manipulation tied to last week’s abrupt tariff reduction, which triggered a sharp market rebound.
