Hegseth Says Iran Will Never Be Allowed Nuclear Weapons

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said Washington will pursue and kill those responsible for the deaths of Americans, delivering a sharp warning during a news conference.

Hegseth said Iran must never be allowed to obtain nuclear weapons and accused Tehran of using conventional military power to shield its nuclear ambitions.

President Trump said military action against Iran is “necessary to ensure that Americans will never have to face a radical, bloodthirsty terrorist regime armed with nuclear weapons and lots of threats.”

He criticized the 2015 nuclear deal under former President Barack Obama as a failure. He said the US campaign, known as Operation Epic Fury, is focused on destroying Iranian missiles, production facilities, naval assets, and key security infrastructure.
