The most closely followed contest is Maine’s Democratic Senate primary, where Graham Platner is seeking the nomination to challenge Republican Sen. Susan Collins in November.

Platner has built strong grassroots support among Democrats by presenting himself as an anti-establishment candidate focused on working-class issues.

However, recent allegations involving his personal conduct have generated controversy in the final days of the campaign. The report said Platner has denied physical abuse allegations and argued that some accusations are politically motivated.

Elsewhere, Maine voters are also deciding competitive gubernatorial and congressional primaries. South Carolina Republicans are choosing a successor to term-limited Gov. Henry McMaster, while Sen. Lindsey Graham seeks another Senate nomination with President Donald Trump’s backing.

Nevada’s governor’s race and North Dakota’s lone House contest are also on the ballot. According to the report, several of Tuesday’s outcomes could shape the political landscape heading into the 2026 midterm elections.
