Hormuz Crisis: Xi Urges Strait To Stay Open In Call With Saudi Crown Prince

Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for the Strait of Hormuz to remain open during a phone conversation with Mohammed bin Salman, according to state broadcaster CCTV.

Xi said uninterrupted passage through the key global shipping route is in the shared interest of regional and international stakeholders. This marks Beijing’s clearest position yet on the waterway since tensions escalated following U.S.-Israeli strikes on Iran.

He also urged an immediate and comprehensive ceasefire and stressed that the crisis must be resolved through diplomacy rather than prolonged conflict.
