House GOP Advances $95 Billion Budget Package

House Republicans have approved a budget framework that clears the way for a $95 billion reconciliation package focused on military operations involving Iran and other domestic priorities.

The measure passed despite unified Democratic opposition and resistance from some Republican lawmakers, allowing work to begin on what leaders have described as the next phase of the reconciliation process.

According to the proposal, about $73 billion would be directed toward funding the Iran war. Another $12 billion is earmarked for agricultural assistance, while $10 billion would be used to encourage states to adopt portions of the SAVE America Act.

The report said the House vote establishes the procedural framework rather than providing final approval for the spending package, which must still advance through Congress.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune acknowledged that the proposal faces an uncertain path in the Senate, citing divisions among Republican senators over defense spending levels and how the package would be financed.
